Life is calling me to be increasingly in Lexington and the empty nest is looking more and more permanent, so I am taking advantage of this situation to create a new studio. Four Leaf Studio is located in the front of my house in Lexington, where I can see you approaching, should you come for a visit. The ceiling is high and the floor pre-distressed, making it is a natural space for painting. You might be wondering how I can leave my beloved Clover Slope Studio. The answer is that I will not be leaving Clover Slope, I will still be able to work there and it will remain the major source of inspiration for my art as it is located so close to my favorite places. If you are interested in visiting either studio, please

. Visit Four Leaf Studio on my About webpage.

Five of my paintings depicting Kentucky woodland scenes are on display at the Little Fine Arts Library on the University of Kentucky campus. They can be found at the top of the stairway that goes up to the stacks. So while you are doing your research, you can take a little break to walk through the woods at Floracliff, Blue Licks and Carnico. The Little Library is home to a collection of Kentucky art work that is worth a visit. Check out the Anna and Harlan Hubbard wall and the LaVon Williams woodcarving.
A New Leaf
David and I were heading home from our younger childs college graduation last May, recognizing that we had accomplished our major goal as parents: to have our children successfully graduate from the college of their choice. Perhaps it was due to all the four-leaf clovers that I had come across, but on that very trip, I received an email from Cindy Derer inviting me to teach at her newly created Lexington Art Academy. This was an opportune bit of luck. I began teaching in June. I have continued to teach my Experimenting with Watercolor and Pastel class and I am learning what so many teachers have professed; that a teacher can learn even more than his or her students. Seeing is what gives me such great joy, and it is fascinating to observe how others see. The paintings of my students are a great inspiration, and teaching gives my thinking about art a richness I have never experienced before.
Cindys idea to create an art school for adults has struck a chord, which I know from the feedback I have heard from a diverse group of students. I also have taken a figure drawing class which reminded me of approaches to drawing that I practiced in college. It is good to be surrounded by artmaking once again!
